City Grill Presents a Tasting of White Wines from Australia
City Grill is pleased to present a tasting of white wines from Australia on June 11, 2008 to follow our theme for 2008 of Wines from the Southern Hemisphere. Each month we will feature a country or region south of the equator that we feel is making some of the best wines available. For June, we would like you to join us as our guest speaker, Leslie Maske of Prestige Wines, enlightens us with her insightful commentary and entertains questions throughout the event. The restaurant will offer a sampling of light hors d’oeuvres to compliment these sumptuous wines from “The Land Down Under”. The festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a social gathering for $25 per person to include the wine tasting and tapas.
Australia plays host to making almost the entire gamut of white wines that are also available in other parts of the world. Australian vintners are producing bold white wines such as the Chardonnay, Semillon, & Voignier, spicy and sweet wines such as the Gewürztraminer and Marsanne, light and fruit-filled flavored wines like the Chenin Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Gris, and a dry white wine in their Sauvignon Blanc. Australia also has a white wine that has a success story that they can claim all their own in the Verdelho wine. The Verdelho grape was originally brought to Australia to produce a sweet fortified wine, but after it was bottled as a still table wine, the winemakers found that they had a hit on the hands. Whatever your taste in white wine, Australia has a match made just for you.
City Grill will feature wines from Australia on the wine list throughout the entire month of June. The wines will also be paired with complimentary dishes on the Chef’s Tasting Menu on June 11th for those who would like to experience a meal dedicated to the delights of the wines from Australia. Those who attend both the Wine Tasting Event and The Chef’s Tasting Menu will receive the total package for $75.00 all-inclusive.
Chef Shan Holler will graciously prepare alternative selections for those who have special dietary needs. Reservations are suggested and may be made by calling 404-524-2489 or accessing www.citygrillatlanta.com. City Grill is located in the historic Hurt Building at 50 Hurt Plaza in downtown Atlanta. Valet parking is available in the garage adjacent to the restaurant for a nominal fee.
